We need your help.
This is your opportunity to have your voice heard on benzodiazepines by U.S. policy-making organizations. Deadline is July 19th, 2024.
ASAM Clinical Practice Guideline on Benzodiazepine Tapering
I've been part of a patient panel advising the American Society for Addiction Medicine (ASAM) on deprescribing protocols for benzodiazepines along with benzo leaders from Benzodiazepine Information Coalitions (BIC) and the Alliance for Benzodiazepine Best Practices (Alliance) among others. This effort is funded by a grant from the FDA and will likely be adopted by many medical organizations in the U.S.
BIC covered all the relevant details in a recent blog post, so I am not going to repeat them here. Please view that post on BIC's website for more information.
Suffice it to say, the guidance document did not meet our expectations and it is now open for public comment. It is a slightly complicated process and might take a little time, but your comments will be heard and can definitely make a difference.
We encourage you to provide feedback if you can.

Quick Update from D
I just wanted to add a brief post script here on my status.
I have been focused on my family these past couple of weeks with the memorial events for my wife's dad. In addition, I'm still pursuing answers for my ongoing nerve pain including several doc visits, tests, and therapies. No answers yet, but I'm hanging in there and continue to move forward.
Anyway, I apologize to you all for my recent absence, but I am still here. I will have a new podcast episode out later this week with more to follow soon.
Thank you for everyone's kind wishes,
Talk to you soon,
D
